The Indianapolis Congress of Elders owes a debt of thanks to the leadership of the churches of Southern Illinois.

When I served First Christian Church in Anna, IL, the local Christian Church ministers group worked very hard to put together a series of Congress of Elders events. This was the ministers group formed around the Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp at West Frankfort Illinois where Ron Periman serves as Camp Manager.

These ministers helped organize and refine the format for these leadership events. The first Congress was held in 1999, and to date the group has met nearly every year since that inaugural event.
